A vacuum emulsifier homogenizer is a significant purchase, and the wrong choice — usually the wrong capacity or the wrong mixer type — shows up as failed batches, aeration problems, or a machine that never runs at full efficiency. This guide gives you a plain-language checklist to work through before you contact a supplier, so the quote you receive is actually for the machine you need.
1. Know your working capacity, not just tank volume
The single most common mistake is buying a machine sized to the tank volume instead of the working capacity. Mixers are rated by the volume of product they can process per batch, which is typically 60–80% of the vessel's total volume to leave headroom for the agitator, the vacuum, and product movement.
- 50L–200L — pilot batches, R&D and small production runs.
- 300L–500L — mid-volume cosmetic and pharmaceutical production.
- 1000L–2000L — full-scale production machines for creams, lotions and sauces.
If you make 400L of cream per batch, size for a 500L working-capacity machine — not a 400L tank. Tell your supplier your actual batch size and let them map it to working capacity.
2. Match the series to your product
Ginhong's vacuum emulsifiers come in three series, and they are not interchangeable. The right one depends on your formulation and batch scale:
- RX series — for larger batches and powdery or high-viscosity products. The workhorse for production.
- RS series — for small to medium batches, ideal for creams and fluid products where you want fine, stable emulsions.
- RB series — for large, continuous batches of emulsions with a focus on throughput.
If you are unsure which fits, describe your product (and its final viscosity) — a good supplier will recommend rather than upsell.
3. Check the vacuum level and why it matters
Mixing under vacuum removes air from the product, which is what prevents aeration and delivers a void-free, stable emulsion. Look for a machine that reaches around -0.09 MPa. Without proper vacuum, creams and ointments trap micro-bubbles that hurt stability, appearance and shelf life.
4. Consider heating and cooling
Most emulsions are heat-sensitive. A jacketed vessel lets you heat the oil phase and cool the finished product in the same vessel. Confirm whether you need steam or electric heating and whether the jacket supports cooling water — this depends on what utilities your factory already has.
5. Verify materials and certification
Product-contact parts should be food/pharma-grade stainless steel — SS316L for aggressive or high-purity products, SS304 as a cost-effective alternative. If you export to the EU, confirm the machine carries CE certification (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU).
6. Ask about quality control before you pay
Two questions separate serious manufacturers from resellers:
- Is every machine hydrostatically tested before shipment?
- Will I receive video inspection of my actual machine before it ships?
A "yes" to both means you can verify the build remotely, which matters when you are buying across borders.
7. Build your quote request around these seven questions
Send this to any supplier and the conversation starts on the right foot:
- What is your batch size in liters?
- What product do you make, and what is its viscosity?
- Do you need heating, cooling, or both?
- Is the product heat-sensitive or air-sensitive?
- What are your utilities — steam, electric, water?
- Do you need CE certification for the target market?
- What is your target lead time and budget?
The short version
Size to working capacity, not tank volume. Match the series to your product. Confirm vacuum level, heating, materials and certification. And only buy from a supplier that hydro-tests and video-inspects every machine before shipping.
