ZX Inline Homogenizer — Continuous High Shear, Fitted in the Pipeline

A pipeline machine: the ZX is installed in the pipework and product passes through it continuously. It is the same machine that sits at the heart of our RB vacuum emulsifier mixer, and it also works as the transfer pump.

HOW IT WORKS

Inside the ZX

One set of rotor and stator, a mechanical seal, a transmission and a motor, mounted on a stainless steel base. Inlet and outlet ports connect the machine to your vessel; a drain port at the bottom of the chamber is there for cleaning.

The rotor is driven by an ABB or Siemens motor and rotates at 3000 rpm. Raw materials are drawn in through the stator inlet into the high shear chamber.

Centrifugal force drives the product into the narrow gap between rotor and stator, where it is pressed and crushed — dispersed, homogenized and emulsified. Along the tangent the rotor reaches a linear velocity of 15–40 m/s. Product then jets out through the outlet of the chamber.

Because the ZX is self-pumping it also works as the transfer pump for discharging finished product. Product cannot bypass the precision rotor-stator workhead.

The machine specification complies with cGMP requirements: product contact parts in SS316L, mirror polished so the machine cleans down between batches, with sanitary clamp connections on the pipework.
